Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, who started
his film career as early as when he was 17-years-old, will be conferred
with a ‘Global Achiever Award’ at the All India Film Employees
Confederation (AIFEC) meet that is to be held in Chennai from 9 to 11
October.
This was announced by president of Film Employees
Federation of South India (FEFSI) V C Guhanathan at a press conference
that was held jointly with Nadigar Sangam on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, "Karunanidhi has
served the film industry in the capacity of a writer and literary
person for the past 70 years. He has penned story and dialogues for
more than eighty films. His achievements in politics and services to
the society are well known. Hence we want to confer ‘Global Achiever
Award’ and honour him on this historical event".
Echoing his views Sarath Kumar, president of Nadigar
Sangam said, "It is very apt to bestow this award to Kalaignar whose
contribution to film industry is immense".

Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan would attend the
inaugural day event. For the first time more than 50 music composers
from all over the country including Maestros Illayaraja, M S
Vishwanathan, Oscar Winner A R Rahman, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Harris
Jayaraj, Deva, Patnaik etc will be coming together for a 'Musical Nite'
as part of the event.
