I feel fresh after Umrah: Rahman

JEDDAH:
Sporting a full T-shirt and sandals, and donning a cap, Oscar winning
composer of “Jai Ho” fame from the “Slumdog Millionaire” spent some
time with his Indian compatriots here on Thursday night. Despite a
drive from Jeddah to Madinah, Madinah to Makkah and back to Jeddah,
Rahman presented a true picture of fulfillment having prayed at the
Prophet's Mosque and performed Umrah.
“I feel quite fresh,”
Rahman told the Tamil Sangam gathering on his arrival at Indian Consul
General Sayeed Ahmed Baba's residence. Rahman, nicknamed "Mozart of
Chennai,” left by the night flight to Chennai where he is presenting a
concert on Oct. 11. The concert is a fundraiser for The Shakti
Foundation, which works for the physically challenged, and the A. R.
Rahman Foundation that plans to open music schools for underprivileged
children, in Chennai to begin with and subsequently in different places
across India. The Live In Concert, is a part of double Academy winner
A. R. Rahman's 'Jai Ho World Tour' and is the first in his home city.
About his upcoming projects, Oscar winning composer said: “Two of my
Hollywood movies are being released in the coming days, including
'Blue,' a comedy.
He is also all set to stage a musical show in
Los Angeles, according to reports. And those attending the event would
include celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Sean Penn, Brad Pitt, Tom
Cruise, David Beckham, Owen Wilson, etc.
All eyes are on the
music of Bollywood movie 'Raavan', as it will be the first album with
the Mani Ratnam-Rahman combination that will be out after the
composer's double delight at the Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire.
Besides Raavan, Rahman's current South Indian projects include
Rajinikanth's 'Endhiran' and Sultan, Couples Retreat and 'Vinaithaandi
Varuvaaya'.
“Thanks for the love and warm welcome,” Rahman remarked before leaving for the 
airport.
