R. Rahman wooed the audience with his music number 'Jai Ho' in the movie. On the other hand Resul Pookutty made the film perfect with the best sound mixing. Actors like Dev Patel, Freida Pinto, Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Mohammed Azharuddin Ismail and Rubina Ali. rose to world recognition with this single movie. There was a huge outcry that the film is exaggerating the slum life in Mumbai. However an outsider, who have visited Mumbai slums will feel the same horror as he watches the film. The good impact of the awards was that the Indian government initiated programmes to upgrade the lives in slum areas. Even media started to concentrate more on the slum lives. The movie also has shown Mumbai, "Unending, inseparable, unborn" bond in the lives of Mumbaikars. The essence of the film is the optimism and the power of hope in Indian lives.
