If I am not wrong, ARR also has copyrights to songs that he composes. Cant they
be released on KM Musiq label? Why cant there be limited number of copies
released (by either T-Series or KM Musiq or other companies)?

Numbers of you gave for Slumdog are indeed quite shocking. It is also true that
songs are easily available to download for free on several forums (blogs,
torrents etc), also heard something like 15 soundtracks are getting released on
1 mp3 CD for 10-15 Rs in India - this sort of piracy is truly killing music CD
sales.. and from my prospective, I havnt seen anything solid from music
companies to stop this piracy.. actually I kinda noticed that situation has
become worse as this web world has progressed in recent times.

So may be what can be done is not to produce original copies blindly, prices
for original CDs can also be decreased (to encourage people to buy original ..
though I personally dont complain about the price) and for outdated / flop /
old movies - release limited number of copies. RPG / Saregama has set a good
example for initiative. From time to time they have been coming out with old
Hindi soundtracks, they do know that the sales wont be great - hence they make
limited number of copies so that they dont get any lose.

Btw I really appreciate that you replied!
