Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie wrote the first "We are the World" and it was produced by Quincy Jones. That effort made more than $63 million for the African famine. Jones and Richie planned to record the song on January 28th 2010, but because of the earthquake in Haiti those plans were set back. Yesterday they recorded the new version. Smokey Robinson, who took part in the first version, said no one who appeared in the first "We are the World" would appear in the second.
