Guys,

I was listening to the "Jai Ho" compilation released by T-Series and heard the
song "Khoye Khoye Aankhein" on CD2 from Tehzeeb after a long, long
time....probably years! Some observations about that song, which didn't strike
me as much at the time it released:

 - The string sections in this song are absolutely mindblowing....intricate and
very melodic, counterpoint to the melody very synchronistically with brilliant
harmonies.
 - The style and sound of the strings, and even some phrases, remind me very
much of the string sections in "Mayya Mayya" from Guru. Listen to both songs
together and you will note the similarities. Rahman simply using the same
string sound and style template.....an Arabic feel.
 - The song has some really beautiful chord progresions leading to quite a few
"hooks", despite a fairly routine and loopy techno rhythm section, which to me
is the weakest part of the song.
 - The "Na Na Chik Nari Nari" bit is really catchy!!!

This song to me was ahead of its time.....it fits much more with today's music
trends than it did with the bollywood music scene of 2003 when this song was
released. After hearing this song after a long time, it struck me in a
completely different way than when I heard it last time. I didn't like the
song in previous hears before, but now I really like it and find myself going
back to it quite often.
That's the magic of Rahman.
