We should keep in mind that the so called veteran singers' availability is very important.. Song recording can't be delayed due to the non-availability of some singers and hence AR could have opted for other singers.. I remember AR saying in one of the recent Tamil industry function that SPB was unavailable for next 6 months cos of which he couldn't record a song for Sultan in his voice..
Btw, I feel Karthik has done full justice to the song exceptionally well in the Tamil version but also equally good in the Hindi.. I presume Tamil version could have been recorded first, and AR pretty impressed with Karthik's rendition could have used him for Hindi as well..
