Fred:
You are correct in your interpretation. I never stopped the UNIX server because I applied ONLY Remedy patches or changed any of the Remedy ARS configuration parameters. I have rebooted a server that had a run-away process that was consuming memory on a server (once) and because the amount of memory did not add up after stopping a process (memory leak.) I have had to reboot a server after applying critical UNIX patches, and this is only about once every three months. I have had to reboot an Oracle database server after applying patches but this is because the Oracle patches also required UNIX server patches.
So, no I have not rebooted a production server running Remedy ARS for quite some time.

James is talking about Unix Operating System patches. We have been running Remedy on Unix servers for over 5 years and I can't recall any time where we had to reboot a Unix server due to Remedy.
Decreasing the Remedy threads only requires stopping and restarting the Remedy processes for the threads to be released.
