Hi Scott,

I’m working in Australia, primarily for myself. For this to work, you need to build relationships with a number of Remedy customers.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve done work directly with clients, as well as through BMC and BMC partners. When working through BMC or partners, I’m representing that company, and don’t promote myself as a separate entity.

So long as you can generate business, it works very well. I’m certainly keeping busy at the moment, but I did have some down time earlier in the year. Most of my work is on-site, but I’ve been able to complete quite a bit from home.

I love the set-up. Originally I was working in a permanent role, but my role was unexpectedly outsourced (putting it nicely). Since then I’ve been working freelance – about 4 years now.

Regards,

Matt Willis

Subject: Freelance vs Consulting Firm

**

Is anyone here doing Freelance Remedy consulting rather than working for a Consulting Firm? What I mean by that is: You take on Remedy jobs in your own name as a one person shop either on site or remotely.

Upsides? Downsides? Realistic?
