Susan (or anyone who is or has upgraded from 5.01.02 -> 7.0.01)

We're currently attempting an upgrade of 5.01.02 to 7.0.01.   Although the upgrade went ok, when we attempt to start the AR Server we get the error below.  So although the arserverd looks like it started, it's not really functioning and can't accept connections from clients...

Having originally done that same basic upgrade because support said it could be done and having problems afterwards (group form) and spending 3 weeks troubleshooting with Support it was decided I needed to upgrade from 5.1.2 to 6.3 to 7.x.

I found that even though the fields appeared on the group form they were not actually in the database.  And even all the tricks of adding a field, moving a field etc in the Remedy admin tool did not fix the problem.  Went against everything we knew and believed about the relationship between the admin tool and the database.

We are on Oracle 10g on that server so that may be a difference between your issues.

Susan

Current Production System:  Windows 2000 Server SP4 / SQL 2000 / ARS 5.01.02

Upgrade Production System:  Windows 2003 Server SP1 / SQL 2005 / ARS 7.01.02

Installed ARS 7.01.02 on 'Upgrade System' with defaults.
Logged onto 'Upgrade System' Demo account with both User & Admin clients.
Shutdown ARS 7.01.02 processes on 'Upradge System'
Restored SQL 2000 backup from 'Current System' with corrected paths for 'Upgrade System' database & log file.
Ran query against restored database EXEC sp_changedbowner 'ARAdmin', 'true' to restore ARAdmin as dbo.
Started ARS 7.01.02 processes on 'Upgrade System'
User and Admin client cannot access ARS on 'Upgrade System'

Ran ARS 7.01.02 install again selecting upgrade.

Recieved the following:

****->[ERROR]: AR System Server Database upgrade error. Changes to the original database may have been commited during this process which would result in the need to recover data from your database backup. Resolve the problem that caused the error (Check the installation logfile and contact Technical Support if necessary).
****->[ERROR]: Failed to complete AR Server installation.

Any ideas?
