Greetings,

I know it's not ARS specific, but I thought I'd throw this one out there to see
what experiences people might have with Citrix NetScaler discovery via ADDM.

I've been playing around with ADDM trying to cobble together various
credentials from the server hoard, DBA knights, storage gurus, and network
magicians but I've hit a snag when it comes to NetScalers. Specifically SDXs
vs. VPXs.

The ADDM docs say it can "discover dedicated hardware load balancers such as
Application Delivery Controllers from F5 or Citrix (NetScaler), or the
virtualized versions of these devices." That sounds to me like it should
support SDX and VPX, but maybe I'm wrong. Does anyone have any expirience?

I tried using an SNMPv2 cred to scan the SDXs and it cannot complete the
getMACAddress method. (both the getDeviceInfo and getHostInfo complete fine). I
then tried to scan a VPX with the above SNMPv2 cred as well and it fails
completely. (SNMP timeout) My Citrix connection down the hall says he used all
the same info, but it's failing (timing out)regardless.

I reveiwed the MIB-OIDs being used in ADDM's script bank and they all seem to
jive with Citrix documentation.

Thoughts?
-Doug
