As Rick mentioned, it's all about what outcome you're trying to produce. Fault detection isn't really Splunk's forte, but it could do the job. Nothing that couldn't be done in other tools, but it was the first tool I did that stuff in and I really enjoyed the interfaces and the query capabilities...I liked it.
