Well, whenever it gets released is anyone's guess, but Remedy has been
working for some time on a White Paper showing how to migrate ITSM 6 into
CMDB 2.0. Since that would, in part, be converting the CMDB 1.x CDM into
the CMDB 2.0 CDM, you might wait a bit for that to come out and use it.

Subject: CMDB cannot upgrade from previous version

Hi everyone,

We are planning on moving from Unix to a Linux platform, and upgrading from
ARS 6.3 to 7.0.1 at the same time. We will be copying the database from one
machine to another, then installing ARS, including CMDB 2.0.

The "BMCR AtriumR CMDB 2.0 Installation and Configuration Guide" p15 says:

*******
Upgrading to version 2.0 from a previous version of the BMC Atrium CMDB is
not supported at this time. You must install on a machine that does not have
a previous version installed.
WARNING: If you run the installer on a machine with a previous version
installed, the installer will detect this and attempt to upgrade your BMC
Atrium CMDB. This upgrade is not supported by BMC Software.
******

We have data in our CMDB forms. What are we supposed to do?
Export the data, uninstall the old CMDB, then re-import the data when we are
all done?

Please say it ain't so.
