Dear Jase, Here's how i would achieve doing this
Create two Activelinks with the the same Execute On condition with separate execution order. The First Activelink will do a Open window and set a flag on Window close. This flag will only get set when you do a commit on the dialog. Check for a flag on the second active link. If the flag is set perform a change field action.
