If there is an smtp gateway configured in your environment, you can
use that. Exchange, sendmail, etc.; it doesn't really matter what it
is. If there is not a public gateway, you can use something locally,
e.g., sendmail. Those are for outgoing messages. pop3 is a mail
delivery protocol for incoming messages.

Hi guru folks,

I am working on configuring the email engine on version 7.xx - I have
question about Email Server Type? I would like to setup the outgoing with
IMAP or POP.

Do I need to setup sendmail process on the UNIX environment? If so does
anybody have a basic script for sendmail?

The following is the environment we are using:

Solaris 8

Oracle 10.2 (10i)

ARS 7.02 Patch 3
