*Position Details*
This person will be responsible for providing the technical vision and
architecture of an enterprise wide, mission critical solution
constructed on the BMC Action Request System application server
platform. The individual will collaborate with hardware, operating
system, network, and relational database architects and administrators
to deliver a holistic solution. The Architect will work with the
development team to refine existing standards and conventions as well as
established "best practice". In addition, this individual will provide
technical guidance and oversight to members of their own team in the
course of their daily work. This individual will also be responsible for
assisting the support team in any required capacity in order to address
problems that arise the production application server environment.
*Responsibilities*
The individual in this position will have the following responsibilities:
* Develop high-level, logical architecture of the Action Request
System platform.
* Develop detailed design documents outlining the implementation
plan for all functionality.
* Provide high-level estimates for work required to provide
requested functionality.
* Participate in the continual evolution of established development
standards and best practices.
* Monitor application server configuration and operating environment
and maintain a two-year licensing and technical architecture.
* Working with business owners or analysts to ensure application
capabilities and architecture meets the business needs.
* Work with the business owners to establish reasonable thresholds
of performance.
* Work with MIS domain experts to review the solution's hardware,
operating system, and database configurations in order to ensure
optimal performance.
* Provide technical oversight and assistance for developers
responsible for building out detailed design documents.
* Assist, as needed, in the development of solutions residing on or
integrating with the AR System platform.
* Assist, as needed, in the development of integrations between the
AR System platform and third party-products.
* Act as tier-three escalation point for technical support issues
relating specifically to the AR System platform.
* Work with the development and support teams to identify and refine
"best practice" methods and procedures for developing and
supporting the AR System platform.
*Technical Skills Required*
* Minimum five years of experience building custom applications on
the AR System platform. Specific knowledge of ARS 6.0 or greater
required.
* Minimum five years of experience building API-level integrations
with the AR System platform using the Java(tm) programming language.
* Minimum two years of experience managing a hardware load-balanced
AR System server group configuration.
* Minimum two years of experience using AR Distributed Server Option
to replicate data to different AR System environments.
* Expert understanding of AR System logging features and
capabilities. In addition, individual must possess a thorough
understanding of the tools available to analyze logging data
produced by the AR system server.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
* Thorough understanding of three-tiered client/server architecture.
* Thorough understanding of the Java Servlet(tm)/Java Server
Pages(tm) components of the Java Enterprise Edition (tm) platform.
* Thorough understanding of the Apache Tomcat 5.5 web server.
* Working knowledge of the Sun Solaris(tm) and RedHat Enterprise
LINUX operating system environments.
* Working knowledge of the Oracle 9i RDBMS product and above average
knowledge of SQL.
* Remedy Approved Consultant or Remedy Skilled Professional
certification is is preferred.
* Experience with AR System solutions constructed for the
telecommunications vertical is preferred.

Typically requires BS/BA or Associates degree in related discipline;
Generally 2-5 years of experience in related field; certification is
required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in
