Hi Jiri; The issue here is that Oracle Corp. does not support a PA-RISC database client running through the ARIES translation engine within an Itanium environment. So you are correct, this is a problem with ORACLE support for Itanium. Oracle does support its native Itanium database client in a Itanium environment (i.e. not going through ARIES), but since AR System Server is still a PA-RISC executable in AR System 7.0.01, the two don't mix officially. Running as a native Itanium process is planned for BMC Remedy products (i.e AR System, ITSM, CMDB, etc.) in future releases. I can't comment on the time frames for this in a public forum, but if you contact your BMC sales representative then he/she can provide you with some more information. Thanks, -David J. Our supplier informs us that all new HP servers come with Itanium processors. I have just had a brief look at the compatibility matrix and as we are using ORACLE database, our future configuration does not seem to be listed as supported. Only Sybase and Informix seem to be supported at the moment (could it be that the problem is actually with ORACLE support for Itanium?). I was wondering if anybody runs Remedy with ORACLE on HP Itanium and what potential issues we may expect. Also, has anybody heard any rumours from BMC about expected timeframe in which Itanium will become supported with ORACLE database?
