Good afternoon folks,

I'm on ARS 7.0.1 and ITSM 7.0.2 patch 4 and have found a bug that is
causing us some problems. Basically, under at least two scenarios, my
users can (and do) create Tasks that are not associated with any parent
record, such as a Change Request. Has anyone else run into this? We
have about 40 Tasks out there that are not related to any valid changes
in production as a result.

Here is how you can duplicate it:

1) Go to a New Change screen and go to the Tasks tab.
2) Select "Ad Hoc" and click the Relate button. An error will pop up
telling you to hit enter.
3) Hit enter and try to relate a task again. It will reserve a Change
ID for you.
4) Create the task and save it however you like.
5) Do not save the Change Request, but just close the form out, and
ignore the prompt to save it.

The second way is:
1) Open a pre-existing Change.
2) Navigate to the menu on the left under Functions>Copy Change
3) Create the copy, but do not save it after it appears on the screen.
4) Add tasks of any kind.
5) Do not save the form and simply close the form out.

If anyone knows of a way to fix this, I'd be glad to hear it. We are
prohibited from changing any workflow at this time (which is a pain that
I am also trying to get addressed) so if anyone knows of another
workaround while I wait on BMC I would love to hear it.

Thanks,

Shawn Pierson
