FYI, since AR System 7.0.00 was the first release to officially support
any virtual environments, it is documented in the FAQ section that
releases prior to 7.0.00 are not supported. See:

http://www.bmc.com/products/documents/68/66/66866/66866.pdf

Note that Solaris Zone support was not added until 7.0.01.

The latest version of the Statement of Direction for Virtual Environment
Support for 7.1.00 can be found at:

The short answer was: 6.3 is not supported in a zoned environment (a
compatibility matrix update would be nice...)

The long answer is that the problem appears to be with the Port Mapper.
If we specify a fixed TCP port, clients can connect; no RPC error. So
now we just have to get the ARTCPPORT env variable into everyone's
profile...

Subject: RPC failure connecting with admin tool

**
We just installed ARS 6.3 (patch 21) on a new box, and we got no errors
during the install, the arsystem starts fine. arserverd, arforkd,
arplugin, armonitor, and arsvcdsp are all running happily. But when we
attempt to connect via the Admin Tool or the User Tool, we get an error:

ARERR [90] Cannot establish a network connection to the AR System server
: brwd-app-nars : RPC: Rpcbind failure - RPC: Authentication error.

This occurs from any client. We can ping the box no problem, and are
not running on any specific RPC socket or TCP port.
rpcbind is running. Has anyone seen this, or know how we can correct
it?
