Dataset refers to horizontal partitioning of the CMDB data (CI A belongs to dataset B and CI C belongs to dataset D). Namespace refers to the vertical partitioning of the CMDB class structure (Class X belongs to namespace Z).
Datasets are used to separate data within the CMDB. The namespaces are used to define the source of the classes, for example, classes included with topology discovery may belong to a separate namespace than those that are included with the core CMDB.
