Can you access the New Atlanta configuration page? If yes, make sure the web application for the midtier is configured.

So I went with the 5.1.2 mid-tier installer which comes bundled with the servlet exec (I had heard you could run newer versions of the mid-tier with an older ARServer, but we're already having enough problems as is). I ran the installer fine, got servlet exec installed, etc. restarted the server, and for some reason, now I can't access the mid-tier configuration tool. I get a 404 error. Ugh. Days like today are why I sometimes wish I answered phones for a living. Michael A. I had numerous problems with tomcat 5.5. My install wouldn't work. I ended up having to install tomcat manually from the download, then install mit-tier. Then I spent about a week configuring everything (along with a lot of help from this list, of course) to get it all working. Let me know if you have problems with the default install if you choose tomcat, and I will give you a description of all the hoops I jumped through to get it to work. Support was not helpful on this issue, they just told me they couldn't support issues with Tomcat and left it at that, they didn't bother to troubleshoot the issue of the MT not working. As others have said, MT 7.1 comes with tomcat, not new Atlanta. If you go with 5.x or 6.x MT, then they will come with new Atlanta as you expect. I'm guessing it was a cost savings thing. I do not even run IIS now, as I could never get IIS to talk with tomcat, and by the time I got tomcat up and running, I wasn't even using any part of IIS anyways. I'm using tomcat and java for my https connections too. The latest Mid-tier (7.1) is compatible with ServletExec. I'm running it in a client sandbox environment now. BMC Support will tell you that Tomcat is their preferred servlet engine, but acknowledge that ServletExec is compatible. Page 6 of the 7.1 compatibility also matrix states that ServletExec 5.0 is supported. What changed was that after MT 7.0, ServletExec no longer came bundled with the MT installer. Now the "freebie" servlet engine is Tomcat. If you want to use ServletExec (instead of Tomcat) AND you owned it previously (i.e. you owned any MT version < 7.0 that had SE bundled with it), then this is what you can do. Install the latest MT version that you own that still has ServletExec bundled. Get it installed and running. Then if you want to upgrade to MT 7.1, just upgrade it and select ServletExec as an already installed servlet engine. I'm completely brand new to installing one of these, but I figured the best route would just be to install mid-tier on another server. I got IIS on the server, installed an SDK (per the docset) and started the install. I get to the Select JSP Engine prompt and ServletExec isn't one of the options. I'm limited to Tomcat and JBOSS. I was under the impression ServletExec was bundled with the installer? My apologies if this is basic stuff. All my experience with Remedy is limited to the admin tool. Thanks, Michael A.
