At all times after it is started once started.. An easy way to check for tomcats processes is grep for the installation path.. when listing your processes.. For eg if Tomcat is installed on /usr/apache do a
ps -ef | grep /usr/apache This will definitely reteurn all processes that are running from within that directory. Hope this helps..
