Brian, I think the normal recommendation is to use the relevant version of the admin tool to the server in use - ie. for a 7.1 server use the 7.1 admin tool. You can have different versions of the admin and user tools on a PC - I've had v5.1.2, v6.3 and v7 clients running on the same desktop. Regards Dave
