Interesting.. I think this name does sound familiar though I must say I have never used it..
So if I were to run the command arsexporter.exe -l <user(Demo)> -p <password()> -s <server($HOSTNAME)> -t <tcpport(0)> -r <rpcnumber(0)> -c <check(no)> -a <ask(yes)> Would it export 'everything'??? Forms, AL's ....etc.. irrespective to the size of the system so long as you have enough space for the XML file that would be generated??? What would be the name of the xml file? I do not see that listed as an argument.. However, what I ended up doing was using arsexporter (the best named utility in the business). I liked how it worked - and made traversal (automated programs) run much faster as they did not have to deal with such huge files. http://ungil.com/remedy/ARSexporter.html Have fun!!! -John -- John David Sundberg 235 East 6th Street, Suite 400B St. Paul, MN 55101 (651) 556-0930-work (651) 247-6766-cell (651) 695-8577-fax john.sundb...@kineticdata.com On Mar 11, 2009, at 3:42 PM, Joe DeSouza wrote: ** Listers, I know I can do this in chunks - a few forms at a time - several XML definition files and get it done.. The size of the XML definition file as a result after the operation is 0, and nothing gets exported. Has anyone else seen this message? I'm going to attempt exports in chunks now that it doesn't seem to like a massive export.. For those who might want to suggest taking a regular Remedy def file export (which might work), I do not want to take an export as a regular ARS def file, which is more likely to work, because I intend modifying the def file after the export, which is more easier when in an AR XML format... RANT: I wish there was a utility available that could parse the regular def file and convert it to an XML def file and vice-versa... There are advantages and disadvatages of both the formats and having such a utility would give us AR developers and admins the best of both the worlds..
