Gary,
We are doing the same upgrade here with one of our systems. The only difference is we are moving to new hardware on the application and database side. Here was our approach: * Take a copy of current production. * Restore to new database server. * Install ARS 6.3 in AIX and point to new database instance. * Upgrade AIX to 7.1. Of course this is a high level view but I think you get the idea. HTH, Roger A. It was not perfect, but got the job done. As for how long it would take.... that all depends on how many apps, forms, workflow and all that that you have as well as how much data. I always did my migrations over a weekend. I moved the forms and stuff over the previous week or so and tested. Then cut off access to the old server to our users by putting it in admin only mode. I cut over the data and gave myself 2 days to do this. We use a dns alias for our remedy server, so that helped with the clients connecting to the new server when it was ready. Our last server migration was from 6.3 to 7.1 and ITSM 7 (from HelpDesk 4). This was a big one and took us about 6 months to get setup. I started moving data ahead of time and then moved only new or changed data on that final weekend. This may not work for everyone. We were also able to fully migrate some specialized custom apps ahead of time and put those into production first. Server migration is never fun.
