I have attached dbx and mdb to the plugin server to debug plugin code
(solaris). I've also used the libumem memory allocator (solaris), which
does exhaustive checks/audits on memory related operations.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libumem
http://developers.sun.com/solaris/articles/libumem_library.html

The debugger allowed me to step through the plugin code and view allocated
memory regions and their data.
libumem allowed me to easily identify memory leaks, overstepped memory
bounds, etc.

See if the plugin server is crashing when you receive these errors.
