The Linux AR server specifically requires the 64-bit Oracle client. From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arsl...@arslist.org] On Behalf Of patrick zandi Sent: Tuesday, September 15, 2009 10:27 AM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: ARSystem 7.5p2, Linux/oracle install error
** put the oracle 32 bit client on the box and configure it to talk to the 64bit server, Then install again pointing tot he 32 bit oracle client (two_task).. I bet it will work... Just a thought... I am building a small Demo Remedy server box on Red Hat Linux with a local Oracle-xe (that's the free, limited use, Oracle 10.2.0.1) on x86_64bit. OS install - OK: Linux 2.6.18-128.7.1.e15 Oracle install: OK, I think: Installer script completes and database starts, the web console (apex) displays and appears to function normally, login as SYSTEM via apex is OK, login as SYSTEM via SQLPLUS is OK ARSystem 7.5 patch 002 ARSuiteKit installer starts, runs through everything up to the "Database DBA information validation warning," which reads Warning! Oracle client libraries do not have the appropriate privileges or 64 bit libraries or Oracle Connection Identifier is mistyped and an unknown error occurred. Set the appropriate privileges and retry the installation (and a pointer to the compatibility matrix) Sort of a catch-all error message, but in the install log there's a clue as to which of these three it might be. The arsystem_install_log.txt contains the text INVALID_OCI_LIB_PERMISSION here's the log context: LOG EVENT {Description=[SET PROPERTY BMC_DATABASE_INPUT_VALID],Detail=[false]} (Sep 14 2009 08:10:28.456 PM -0500),CONFIG,com.bmc.install.product.arsuitekit.platforms.arsystemservers.arserver.ARServerDBAUserInputValidationTask, LOG EVENT {Description=[Updating installing configuration],Detail=[]} (Sep 14 2009 08:10:28.587 PM -0500),CONFIG,com.bmc.install.product.arsuitekit.platforms.arsystemservers.arserver.ARServerDBAUserInputValidationTask, LOG EVENT {Description=[]} (Sep 14 2009 08:10:28.597 PM -0500),INFO,com.bmc.install.product.arsuitekit.platforms.arsystemservers.arserver.ARServerDBAUserInputValidationTask, PROGRESS EVENT {Description=[arservervalidation.dbauserinput.description],Progress=[100],Detail=[arservervalidation.dbauserinput.complete]} (Sep 14 2009 08:10:29.599 PM -0500),CONFIG,com.bmc.install.task.InstallationPropertiesHelper, LOG EVENT {Description=[SET PROPERTY VALIDATION_ERROR_RESULT],Detail=[INVALID_OCI_LIB_PERMISSION[String:ORACLE]]} (Sep 14 2009 08:10:29.601 PM -0500),CONFIG,com.bmc.install.task.InstallationPropertiesHelper, LOG EVENT {Description=[SET PROPERTY VALIDATION_WARNING_RESULT],Detail=[DATABASE_TABLESPACE_SIZE_MESSAGE[String:ORACLE]]} (Sep 14 2009 08:10:29.931 PM -0500),CONFIG,com.bmc.install.builder.installanywhere.InstallationTaskAction, Nothing in my ARSLIST archives. There is one entry in BMCDN that mentions the installer warning text, but it appears to be a case where the database and the ARSystem are on two different machines and was resolved by installing 32 bit client libraries Where can I find exactly which permissions are required by what account and/or file to address this error?
