I had a problem with NT 4 while creating dependencies - where regedit.exe
would not allow me to create a multi size key(or I think it did allow me to
create it but it wouldn't work), and had found a tech note about registry
maintenance back then that said I should be using regedt32 to do what I
needed to do. Since then I have always used regedt32 for that. This may have
changed with the newer versions of windows...

** I was curious myself so I looked up the difference. Since regedit was
16-bit and MS is just about finished with the 32-bit OS (the next few years
anyways) I found it curious that they would still have a 16-bit registry
editor.

  Here some info I found:

  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/141377

Windows XP and Windows Server 2003
  Regedit.exe
Regedit.exe is the configuration editor for Windows XP and Windows Server
2003. Regedit.exe is used tomodify the Windows NT configuration database, or
the Windows NT registry. This editor allows you to view or modify the
Windows NT registry. It supports setting security on registry keys, viewing
and editing REG_EXPAND_SZ and REG_MULTI_SZ, and saving and restoring hive
files. On the left side, there are folders that represent registry keys. On
the right side, there are the values associated with the selected registry
key. Regedit is a powerful tool. You must use extreme caution when you use
it to change registry values. Missing or incorrect values in the registry
can make theWindows installation unusable.
  Regedt32.exe
In Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, Regedt32.exe is a small program
that just runs Regedit.exe.

    You are welcome.

If you need to recreate this for whatever reasons, make sure you create
it as a multi reg key, and that you use regedt32 as a registry editor. Using
regedit, will fail. Multi Reg keys cannot be created using regedit (at least
for older versions of windows - I'm not sure about the newest ones..)

And while creating this key, when you enter the dependent service name
in the key value, make sure you enter a carriage return after the key name.
Without the carriage return, the dependency will not work. A restart of a
machine is in order when this key is created as without a restart the
dependency will not be established.

Try removing the dependency from the registry. There will be a key
called DependOnService on the Remedy AR System Server key, that you would
need to manually delete..

** My guess would be that portmapper is a separate process from
arserver and that the flag just instructs arserver not utilize portmapper
but does not prevent portmapper from starting. Disable portmapper as a
service and restart arserver.

          Register-With-Portmapper: F

          After restart we get
