I'm endeavoring to stay cool as I write this .....

Apparently there was a product defect SW00375642 filed and closed on
this subject with a resolution of "Not a Defect".

.... erased everything else I wrote.

Hi everyone,

Import Tool v7.5, tested on Patch 3 and Patch 7.

Simple import to 'Update' 3 fields on existing records.
Character field updates ok.
Date field updates ok.
Diary (audit log) does not. The import wipes out previously saved diary
field entries. Bad tool!
I am using field 1 to match records (named Site ID).

I've been updating diary fields forever and the import entry was always
just the 'next' entry in the diary field.

I have a webex recording of what it does that I don't think will go
through as an attachment here. If you have a webex player let me know
and I'll send it too you (763kb). It demonstrates the issue.

Column has reproduced the problem also but noticed that the Help Text
associated with 'Update' indicates:
"Update Old Record with New Record's Data-Entries are imported using
their existing IDs. If a duplicate ID exists, only the fields being
imported are replaced, merging the record. If you choose this option,
BMC Remedy Data Import actually deletes the record and reinserts it to
perform the "update."

Is anyone else experiencing this and have a workaround?

Thanks for your help,

Susan
