I recommend 7.6.03 DS with a 7.5 server. It doesn't crash as much and there
are some big improvements over the 7.5 DS (uses list threads where possible
instead of admin thread, Open in browser feature, etc).

We have been using 7.6.03 DS with our 7.5 servers since October without any
issues.
