FYI - in 7.6.04 ARS config guide page 26/462 states:
"Note: The number of worker threads for fast, list, and private queues can be increased to the maximum number of connections your database and hardware can support." It would be nice if BMC got their ducks in a row when it comes to this configuration. Too many guides / white papers and too many options. I've never seen software so complicated to adjust for optimum use. Suggested thread counts are three times the number of CPUs for fast and five times the number of CPUs for list. So a two-CPU box might have six threads for fast and ten threads for list. BMC Software recommends using the same value for the minimum and maximum setting." And the document "Reference Architecture for BMC Service Support Solutions using BSM 7.6 Components" dated from November 2009 has the following information on page 12. "On all platforms, when configuring the AR System server threads, do not exceed about 60 to 70 threads for all list, fast, and private queues. At higher thread levels, the throughput stagnates and can even be reduced. Rather than increasing the number of threads in one server beyond this number, BMC recommends that you add multiple servers in virtual machines on the same hardware and configure each with up to 60 threads."
