I do not recall which exact version, but there was at least one version which kept the old dll’s along with the new ones in the same directory. The dll nameing format was <dllname><version>.dll which allowed the new one to be copied in the directory without needing to remove the older one, and the installer didn’t clean them up.
Again I do not recall if this was on the server side or on the client installs.. It could have been both...
