SQL server we found we can run with 6 gig ram barely! 
VMware player is the way to go
Recommend fast hdd or sdd
Get a USB 3 and esata plug.  For external vmplayer modules. 
You can get a ms developer license and us SQL server under that. 

You can use 2 sessions on 8 gig

Do not turn on outlook 2010 as it is a
