I’m pretty old on the list and just as of this morning started to notice the
Hawaiian shirt references :) – so educate me – what’s it all about..

I tend to prefer my T shirts of my favorite artists.. But I think I could try
doing Hawaiian :-)

I’m a beach boy at heart after all who still doesn’t know to swim too well lol..

Very creative Rick .... not sure everyone gets the 'Hawaiian' shirt reference
though ... so many newer listers!

When you think the conference hotel is too expensive, you look for a cheaper
one nearby.

When you stay at a cheaper hotel nearby, the directions seem different in the
dark, especially after a few drinks.

When the directions seem different in the dark, you could end up in a bad
part of town at midnight, tipsy, while wearing a Hawaiian shirt.

When you end up in a bad part of town at midnight, tipsy, while wearing a
Hawaiian shirt, it could end up costing you a little more than you thought.

Don't end up in tipsy at midnight in Tenderloin in a Hawaiian shirt. Stay at
the conference hotel.

    I should also remind folks:

We start at 8:30 in the morning and run to at least 10pm,

    With breakfast before 8:30 am,

And running to really 11 or 12 pm two nights at least.

Life is much much easier if you stay in the Conference hotel.

Don’t forget to join the Fairmont club to get your free in-room internet.

The conference rate for rooms ends in 4 days,

unless the hotel decides to build a new wing between now and the conference.

(they are actually being quite generous so far in terms of allowing more
rooms on the nights that have already sold out).

Also do not need to consider meals from Monday evening to Friday lunch.
Granted a couple of evenings it's considered finger food although folks usually
don't go hungry.

I am paying for my own, too, and didn't find anything much cheaper. It
is an expensive area, and $179 isn't a bad price for a Fairmont.

I am looking for reasonably priced hotels close to the RUG hotel
(Fairmont) in San Jose. I am registered to go to the conference but my company
cannot pay for the T&E so I am left to pay on my own. I am registered at the
Fairmont currently but trying to find something more reasonable and within
walking distance since I’ll be without a rental car as well. Any ideas?

      Thanks,

      Terri
