Hi All, At WWRUG12, we announced that we're looking for a few energetic customers or partners to help us test the final move of AR System from a C++ based system to a Java based system. A few enthusiastic folks signed up, but recently some of them have been forced to leave the program. The good news is that their loss is your gain! We're re-opening this exclusive program to 3-5 additional participants who want bragging rights of being involved from day one.
So why are we converting the server itself to Java? A few good reasons: - More intimate integration into environments like J2EE and SOA - Streamlined constructs to dramatically decrease development time - Broader ability to leverage industry standard, "off the shelf" tools - Quick response to changing customer and market demands for new capabilities This Early Access Program (EAP) was created to make this next generation Java based server and CMDB available to trusted partners and customers for initial testing and feedback in medium-to-large real world customer environments. Server-J/CMDB-J (as the programs are called internally) are being designed to be 100% backwards compatible with applications that currently run on AR System 7.6.04 / CMDB 7.6.04 or later. BMC would like your assistance in ensuring that this is confirmed prior to release. We're looking for customers or partners that have a development environment that mimics a medium-to-large ITSM/CMDB deployment. A combination of BMC provided applications and custom (bespoke) applications is a plus. The general idea will be to load your existing environment on top of Server-J / CMDB-J (or upgrade to it) and confirm that everything continues to work as expected. As an added bonus, once you're in the EAP program, you're automatically eligible to participate in the 2013 beta programs where additional features/functionality will be added to Server-J / CMDB-J! This next phase of the program will kick-off in early January and run for several months. Why would you want to join? [cid:image001.png@01CDDA12.88610AA0] You get to see it first [cid:image001.png@01CDDA12.88610AA0] You get to interact closely with BMC R&D [cid:image001.png@01CDDA12.88610AA0] You get to provide pre-emptive feedback and directly influence future development In general, we expect that participants will spend one hour every two weeks on a scheduled conference call and 2-3 hours a week testing the product itself in a development environment. We are also considering the option of sending BMC employees to your site to discuss the testing in person and assist with execution of test cases.
