I have nothing to add to this discussion on the server side, however I’d like
to bring something up with your Internet Explorer issue.

On the client side, we’ve discovered some defects in IE 9 that may still be an
issue in 10, as well as performance issues that I suspect are due to AppSense
or some other technology that came into play when we upgraded our clients to
Windows 7. Since BMC supports Firefox I always double up my testing between
those two, and unofficially add Chrome as well since more people use it than
the other two browsers. I’ve found that some issues that occur in IE are
basically non-existent in Firefox. I’ve found issues between versions of IE as
well, as it seems like Microsoft’s browser is getting less reliable with each
new version.

If you suspect Flash is the major issue you can disable the plugin on the
browser or disable it on the Mid Tier. I don’t know if this works on 8.x, but
on 7.6.4, you can go to <Install Directory>:\Program Files\BMC
Software\ARSystem\midtier\WEB-INF\classes\ on the Mid Tier server, open up the
config.properties file, and set arsystem.flash.enable_ui_rendering=true to be
arsystem.flash.enable_ui_rendering=false instead. That shouldn’t have an
impact on any functionality of Remedy, just the way things are displayed.

Thanks,

Hi :)

I'm testing ITSM 8 Patch 001 for a while now with Windows Server 2012 (and SQL
Server 2012 btw), so far it's working quite ok, nothing blocked me.

The problems I have / had so far:
-> IE 10 just freezes (didn't have the time to look at time, strongly suspect
the way IE10 embeddes flash now),
-> some problems launching the installers (need to force UI mode in command
line),
-> some problems installing patch 001 of ITSM 8 (need to change a bat),

But at functionnality level nothing special arised. A couple of collegues work
on the VM and it looks ok so far.

Didn't try to do a 7.6.04 with it since they just hate how windows server 2012
works now (GUI/IHM) but it's more a "human" factor :)

Laurent.

Hi All,

BMC would like to better understand how fast Windows 2012 is being
implemented by BMC Remedy / Atrium customers. So I have a few quick questions:

1. Is anyone currently using Windows Server 2012 in production with AR System
7.6.04 or 8.0.00?

2. Is anyone planning to move to Windows Server 2012 in production with AR
System 7.6.04 or 8.0.00 prior to August, 2013?

3. Is anyone currently evaluating Windows Server 2012 in development / test /
QA – and have you encountered any blocking issues that absolutely keep you from
moving into production?
