We are decreasingly creating custom tables. Over the last 4 years or so we will build a form/table using Dev Studio so we can manage it with Remedy but we might be building it with a DB integration in mind. We will turn off Status History or create a stored procedure that creates the H record in addition to the values of the core fields. In the cases where we do build a custom table or view we do it in a db space that is right next to ARSystem. We are working on keeping everything in ARSystem managed by Remedy and everything else in the resources DB.
