Chris, The Query tab on CI Class Mappings does offer a certain amount of filtering but doesn't quite get you what you're looking for. You can however pursue the option you suggest in your last sentence. In your recon jobs you can have identification run but not "auto-identify" records that do not match in the source dataset. The merge activity will only "promote" identified records.
From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arslist@ARSLIST.ORG] On Behalf Of Danaceau, Chris Sent: Thursday, October 31, 2013 1:12 PM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: How can I limit AIE exchanges to existing CMDB records? ** I want to limit records from a source that I bring into the CMDB to just those that match on the key attribute (in this case serial number). Can this be done with a data key or update query? Currently my model is to bring this data into its own data set. Should I instead target a data set thats a copy of production? My goal is to not create new records from my source, but only to update existing CMDB records. If there's an option to do it with the Reconciliation engine I'm open to that as well. -- Thank You, Chris Danaceau FINRA Confidentiality Notice: This email, including attachments, may include non-public, proprietary, confidential or legally privileged information.
