Yes, I'll try and find out a bit more about it. My suspicion is that it's there to support Crystal based reporting but that's just a guess at this point. It may be that it's functionally the same as the 7604 version but has been compiled to use the 8.1 API files.
I'll report back when I have some news - perhaps Levi would let us know if it works expected? On a related note, one problem I've run into is that now that I'm using 64-bit Office the ODBC driver can't be used as it's 32-bit. I am sure this is a very interesting find for many of us. It’s documented here https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/ars81/Using+the+driver+program You need to get a copy from an 8.1 server as that will be linked to use the 8.1 supporting dlls rather than the 7.x versions you’re trying to use below. I must admit that I wasn’t aware that there was an arodbc81.dll, I’m not sure if it will provide the same functionality as the one that used to ship with the User Tool. Unless I am mistaken, there is an 8.1 ODBC driver, BMC just hides it. It is located on the Mid Tier server buried here: %mid tier directory%\WEB-INF\lib\ Here is a screenshot where I have gathered all the respective dll files similar to this Michael’s 7.1 & 7.6.03 packages, they are all in that Mid Tier directory. [X] This is why I wanted to get in touch with this Michael because he has the driver.exe hard coded to use either the arapi71 or the arapi7603_build001 dlls for the respective packages. If he could compile something that used the arapi81_build001 dll then, in theory, 8.1 ODBC driver package would work just like these other two. [X] [X] At least that was my line of thinking. I think you may be getting confused about what the driver.exe included in the packages linked from the KB actually is. It’s not the ODBC driver, it is a client which can be used to connect to a Remedy server and make API calls. The KB suggests using this to verify connectivity to the server. It’s the arodbc*.dll file which is the actual ODBC driver.
