Hi,

I built a tool that does exactly that:
https://rrr.se/cgi/tools/main?tool=rrrImportDef

The main reason for building it was not to be able to run it from the command
line, but:
- to be able to import large def files
- to see the progress of the import in real time
- to be able to easily connect any error messages to the actual object that
failed

It will work on any version, as it is just a matter of sending the actual text
from the def file to the server through the ARImport() API-call.
