Dear all, News update for the classical music lovers: 1. From the Maestro to the young pianists : "Alicia's First Piano Book" has just been published ! This score contains 37 beautiful short pieces for young pianists by Ananda Sukarlan, ranging from very easy to moderately difficult. Many pieces were originally written for Ananda's daughter, Alicia Pirena, but then he continued writing other more difficult pieces. Apart from those, this book also includes 2 pieces for piano duet "Two pieces of cake" as well as 2 numbers from his music for Andibachtiar Yusuf's film "Romeo & Juliet", whose premiere in Indonesia on the 23rd of April is highly awaited. Corrections on the concert of Indonesian musicians in Amsterdam : We would like to correct and add some info about the concert which we announced in our last message thru facebook. - Ivan Yohan is a TENOR (not a baritone). He will sing several songs by Mochtar Embut. - Inge Melania Buniardi, winner of Ananda Sukarlan Award 2008 will also perform piano solo pieces by Amir Pasaribu. - Pieces by Ananda Sukarlan performed there will be : Kama (for soprano & piano), The Humiliation of Drupadi (for 2 pianos) and Dalam Doaku (for 2 vocalists and piano). This is a 30-minute tour-de-force, virtuosic opera for one soprano only. The soprano Aning Katamsi will be the sole performer, accompanied by Elizabeth Ashford (flute & piccolo) and Ananda Sukarlan on the piano & percussion. This opera is commissioned by Jakarta Opera. As a "prelude" to the opera IBU, several works of Ananda will be performed.
