that's not a great solution because, over HTTP (as opposed to HTTPS), you'll be 
sending the password unencrypted in the URL.

You can set up a number of proxies, as described in 
http://www.jfrog.com/confluence/display/RTF/Managing+Proxies, and connect each 
remote repo with a proxy, as described on the page I sent previously.  The 
username/password for the proxy and for the repo can be different.

    Finally, I solved the problem using a URL like 
'http://username:password@urlrepository' when I configured the remote 
respository. The artifactory instance  is behind a proxy and the user/password 
of both sites are different...
