artsd nosuspend option?

Since I have no real need to use any non-arts based sound application, I was 
wondering whether there were any way to instruct kde2 or artsd to not suspend 
the arts server after 60 seconds - the pop each time it grabs and releases 
the OSS driver is annoying and I'm sure not good on my speakers.

Any ideas?
