They are supposed to be there. There is a minor bug in KDE2.1 (and the beta
versions) which makes File -> Open Example... only work if you didn't do any
other File -> Save/Open things between starting artsbuilder and going to the
examples. Other than that, it should work fine. And in fact, it works
perfectly here.
You can also manually go to /usr/local/kde/share/apps/artsbuilder/examples
and look for the examples there (replace /usr/local/kde with the prefix KDE
is installed under, which might be /usr, /opt/kde, /opt/kde2 or something
like that).
