Hello,
i have installed mandrake 9.1 ppc on my imac snow and it worked fine. but now i have build a 2.6.0-test-5.bk3 linux kernel on this imac, all is working but the artsd demon which does not work anymore: when launching artsd is says "SNDCTL_DSP_SETMFT failed. invalid argument."
playing songs files with other oss wav players (xmms, mplayer) work fine.
So what does that mean?
Regards,
Gatan QUENTIN.
The 2.4 kernel that came with your Mandrake is not a standard kernel, but contains extra patches for ppc. I remember having to patch my 2.4 kernel on my iBook for SNDCTL_DSP_SETMFT to work. I presume the same holds for 2.6 kernels.
Subscribe to some ppc email lists, read the archives, then ask around over there.
Ron
PS: I remember people saying artsd could probably handle this error in
a better way though. I think the kernel patch didn't actually
add functionality, it just returned success, and artsd worked fine
after that. I'm not by any means an expert here, so don't take
my word for it.-- Netland Internet Services bedrijfsmatige internetoplossingen
