Hi,

For no reason that is apparent to me, artsd suddenly
stopped working. I know my speakers are OK 'cause I
can still play CDs. But when I try to play MP3s or
RA streams, there's no sound.

I've rebooted and it still doesn't work.

Any ideas why it worked one day and suddenly the next
day it stopped working? I've not made any system
changes in months (too busy at work!), so I'm baffled.

What can I do to fix this??

Mixer volume seems OK.
I've tried rm'ing /tmp/mcop-<username>, ~/.mcop, and ~/.mcoprc
Permissions seem OK:

/dev/sound/dsp

I do notice in ~/.xsessions-errors this message everytime I click
on
an mp3 and the KDE embedded media player starts playing:

----------
mcop warning: user defined signal handler found for SIG_PIPE,
overriding
kparts: WARNING: Part '' has a widget unnamed with a focus policy
of
NoFocus. It should have at least a ClickFocus policy, for part
activation to work well.
----------

Any idea what this is about? Could this be a factor?

I'm running mandrake 9.1 (2.4.19-16mdk), artsd 1.0.3

Much thx in advance,

Paul
