This newbie could use some troubleshooting suggestions regarding
artsbuilder.

I start it using the gui or command line:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# artsbuilder &

or

[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# artsdsp artsbuilder &

It comes up OK, and I can open one of the example files, e.g.,
example_adsr.arts just fine. The file structures display in
the window OK.

But when I try:

File -> Execute Structure

I get:

unix_connect: can't connect to server
(unix:/tmp/mcop-root/localhost_localdomain-0374-405df97f)
KCrash: crashing.... crashRecursionCounter = 2
KCrash: Application Name = artsbuilder path = <unknown> pid = 935
[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]#

And the KDE Crash Handler shows this:

Short Description

The application artsbuilder (artsbuilder) crashed and caused the signal 11
(SIGSEGV).

What is this?

An application mostly receives the SIGSEGV signal due to a bug in the
application. The application was asked to save its documents.

What can I do?

You might want to send a bug report to the author. Please include as much
information as possible, maybe the original documents. If you have a way
to reproduce the error, include this also.

For what it's worth, I can run timidity OK and play music:

timidity -Od Mr_Postman.mid

I'm running artsbuilder 1.0.3 under KDE 3.0.3-8 Red Hat.

So does anyone have suggestions on what I can do to get
artsbuilder to run?

Thanks.

                -Ned Downie
