* Role: Oracle apps Lead Database Administrator I* * Location: Cleveland, OH* *Duration: 12+ months* *Position Requirements * *Formal Education & Certification* · Bachelor degree in computer science or related field and 10+ years IT experience, or equivalent experience. · Certifications in Oracle 10g/11g Administration desirable. · Certifications in Oracle 10g RAC Administration desirable. *Knowledge & Experience* · In-depth knowledge of the entire Oracle databases and Oracle Applications environment and architecture. · Strong technical expertise and functional exposure to Oracle eBusiness Suite (release 12 and 11i). · A minimum of 10 years working with customers to build and formulate business requirements. · At least 10 years of hands-on experience developing documentation, white papers and presentations to all levels of management and technical staff. · Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. · 10+ years experience in working with Oracle database technologies. · 10+ years experience of both functional and technical knowledge in supporting Oracle e-Business Suite in an enterprise setting. · 10+ years of experience with supporting Oracle SSO, OIM, OBIEE, Data Guard, Oracle RAC, ASM, and Sun Cluster on Linux and Solaris systems. · Exposure to other RDBMS systems such as MySQL and SQL*Server. · Understand and execute the IT processes of Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, and Configuration Management. *Essential Functions * *Strategy & Planning* · Partner with business, technical, and vendor contacts to discuss requirements for and review proposals for new IT solutions. Participate in the selection process for new IT solutions. · Develop quarterly work plan of activities in support of customer/vendor goals and/or strategy. Assist in determining resource requirements needed to support the activities. · Maintain rolling maintenance plan of activities 6-12 months in advance. *Acquisition & Deployment* · Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to successfully accomplish a project. · Facilitate/lead transition of support for new IT solutions that have been implemented for customer by the Database Technical Services team or other implementation partners. *Operational Management* · Establish and maintain working relationship with representatives from the customer/vendor. · Facilitates weekly operations meeting with customer/vendor. · Provide regular, clear, and consistent communication (written and oral) on the status of projects, issues, and deliverables to representatives from the customer/vendor. · Develop and maintain understanding of key processes, schedules, cycles, profiles, etc. for the technical systems in use by a customer. · Document key processes, schedules, cycles, profiles, etc. for the technical systems in use by a customer. · Define, implement, and maintain service levels objectives, based on the metrics, for the IT systems and processes in use by a customer/vendor. · Monitor key performance indicators and implement enhancements to improve/maintain performance/productivity at acceptable levels. · Establish and maintain a 24x7 global support model for all environments (Oracle EBS and Core databases) in support of customer. · Lead the planning, coordination, and facilitation of monthly maintenance process, including patches, system configurations, and preventative maintenance activities, across all production environments in support of customer. · Partner with Developers, System and Network administrators in a multinational environment to support and improve system performance and stability. · Establish and calculate optimum values for database parameters. · Work with Oracle Support to facilitate analysis of and resolution to technical issues. · Participate in rotation for after-hours support of environments. · Assume primary responsibility during problem resolution. Uses troubleshooting techniques to identify root cause and implements permanent corrective action to resolve issues. · Manage several medium projects, or single large project. Can comfortably handle multiple projects of varying sizes. Provide direction for other team members on these projects. Report status to business process team and IT management. *Incidental Functions * Monitor the database environment to identify and recommend alternatives/enhancements. Consult with end users and developers to recommend the most appropriate database solution. Assist application development with database design considerations. Assist in the designs of data models. Assist in performance tuning, and monitoring of all system tiers. Assist with projects as assigned. Maintain current knowledge of the technology workspace in terms of current state, future possibilities, forthcoming technologies, and their relevance and impact. Assist with other projects as may be required to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the work.
