My wife Leslie and I just returned from voting and from visiting six polling places in Asbury Park.  We found a number of people who needed help voting.  Some were registered to vote, but their names were not on the rolls, while some were at the wrong polling location.  Others simply didn't know what do to when they got in the booth.

I would encourage people here, if you have time this afternoon and evening, to go to your local polling place and help people.  You have to stand 100 feet away, most polling locations have cones with red flags outside marking where you can legally stand.  You can bring a sign that says "If you have questions or need help voting, ask me."  Or you can simply ask people as they are leaving the polls, "Were you able to vote ok."

If people had problems and you don't have an answer for them.  You can call the following:

1. Non-partisan voter hotline: 866-OUR-VOTE
2. Democratic Legal Help: 732-294-9008 or 732-245-0180
(I'm not sure of the Republican Legal Help line, so if someone has it, please post it.)

If someone needs a ride to the polls, you can have them call me at 917-804-0491 (cell).

Please VOTE!

Peace, Jim Keady
