Well, heck. Let's just knock down Old Man Bradley's statue & erect one to Fishman then.
Unfortunately "the city" did make those deals. However, they should be acting as fiduciaries & caretakers of the City for the residents, merchants, and customers of the City of Asbury Park. And we can go into circles here: the city is REQUIRED to follow each piece of the redevelopment to a T, whereas the developer can ignore deadlines in regards to the "fast track" developments (page 34), contributions to the City's Affordable Housing Initiative (page 92), purchase agreements of National Register Landmarks (page 39), and payment of Real Estate taxes to the City (page 72) . http://cityofasburypark.com/WRPlan/waterfrontagreement.pdf And you know what, three years into it, the developer can come back and RENEGOTIATE the tax abatements in a closed session of council to put a higher tax burden on property owners outside of the 56 acres they control. Yes, this council made decisions four years ago that they probably should have had more competent advice than a corrupt city manager. But to say that the developer is owed this piece of property at a firesale price is absolutely ridiculous. Come on Chuck, surely even your employer sees the absurdity of that valuation. Unfortunately for him, this land grab has been seen by the people of the City still seething over a 6am demolition of a National Treasure & they REFUSE to give in one more time to him. --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, charlie leonard <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > thats true, but the city made the deals they did. they know what they have to work with. and they seem fine with it.
